Charles Ahern IV joins the team as Project Coordinator at Stop Predatory Gambling, where he brings a deep sense of purpose and dedication to challenging the systemic exploitation of people and communities caused by government-sanctioned gambling. Charles holds a Bachelor of Arts in American Studies from Union College, where his studies focused on the cultural, political, and economic forces that shape American life. While at Union, he took on multiple leadership roles, serving as both President and Treasurer of the Men’s Rugby Club. In these roles, he was responsible for managing team budgeting, coordinating schedules, and ensuring organizational deadlines were consistently met—skills that now serve him well in the detailed and collaborative work of project coordination.
Before joining Stop Predatory Gambling, Charles returned to his roots as a substitute teacher and rugby coach at his alma mater, St. John’s Preparatory High School in Danvers, Massachusetts. There, he saw firsthand the hopes and vulnerabilities of young people navigating an increasingly complex world. His time in education and athletics reinforced his conviction that young people must be protected from exploitative systems—especially those sanctioned by the very institutions meant to safeguard their futures.
Through every role he’s held—from team leader to educator to advocate—Charles Ahern IV has remained committed to ensuring that the next generation inherits a society that values integrity, fairness, and opportunity over profit at any cost.
